Humayun Ahmed! The name of a glowing star in our Bengali Literature. He could make the story real to the readers. Readers could watch the story happening in front of their eyes. He could make any story enjoyable even the Histories. No one can feel bored during reading the book. Humayun Ahmed could make the readers attracted to read more and more. He could make any simple story alive.
When I read his books I can see the characters and the story like it’s happening in front of me. Some important characters are like HIMU, MICHIR ALI, SHUVRO etc. all is his creative characters. When we read HIMU we must think that if I were HIMU then I could make my life more simple. Funny thing is that HIMU has no pocket in his Punjabi. :D I thought how would he manage to buy something?? But he could do that anyhow.
I heard about him a lot. Many people don’t like him. I asked them what is the cause?? But no answer could satisfy me. Nobody could make my respect down to him. I think he was a great writer. Our literature has got many things from him. He could take our literature worldwide.
One day someone told me that he writes for money. I got heartened to hear that. But when I read his book where most of the stories about him and his life, I could realize he is really great.Humayun Ahmed wrote “এইসব দিনরাত্রি”. It was telecasted on BTV then. One day an actor named Abul Khayer asked him “why did you say that you write for money? It hearted me.” Then Humayun Ahmed said that when he was in America he has tv, fridge etc that are necessary things but during coming he couldn’t bring it with him. When coming home his daughters wanted to watch tv but He has no money to buy a single TV. His children used to go to the neighbors house and some days can’t watch. It made him so sorry for that he can’t fulfill his daughters need. That time he started writing and after some days he could buy the TV. Hearing the answer from him that actor can’t stop himself from crying. Even I can’t control.
It’s him. Some people judge him without knowing him well. A request goes to all of them don’t misunderstand him. To those who don’t read his book, just read one and you can’t stop yourself from reading others.
I used to think that I would meet him on the Ekushe Book fair. But I’m unlucky. I couldn’t make this happen. Most of the times I wanted to go but exam forced me to stop. but now I have time & he is no more.
