Here, I want to write a series about the famous footballers of our golden reign of football. Bangladesh was the superpower in football among all countries in South Asia. Ours ranking was above of all from south Asian teams in FIFA. Many nationals used to go abroad for playing football. Among them Kazi Salahuddin was the pioneer and most famous who achieved a great fame for his skill and performance. He was also the debutant Bangladeshi footballer who went foreign to play for various renowned international clubs. Surprisingly, at early age, Salahuddin was a cricketer who played for Azad Boys which was also the leading club for then East Pakistan. He has a remarkable 94 run innings in prime division. But Salahuddin started his football career with Dilkusha club in second division football league through the request of his sports teacher. Later, he joined Wari Club from Dilkusha. But before independence, he joined to leading club Mohammedan. During Independence war, he played for Shadhin Bangla Football Team across different parts of India to raise funds with a view to helping our respectable freedom fighters. He also returned to take part in front war but failed to make understand the commanders. So he came back to the field. After Independence war, he joined the newly formed Abahani with the request of founder Sheikh Kamal. Salahuddin made Abahani the main opposition of Mohammedan very soon. After serving in Abahani, he went to Malaysia for his international club Debut at eminent Mardeka Cup. He also played for Hong Kong league with the intimate local Caroline Hill Football Club. He has a record for being four times highest scorer in consecutive seasons with Abahani. It’s a wonder that he retired at the peak of his career. After retiring, Salahuddin became the manager of Abahani and outfight the title for his very first year. As manager he also served for Bangladesh national team and Muktijoddha football club.
After a long break, he came back to football with a new role to give our football a new life with new hope from being demolished. He had been elected as the president of Bangladesh Football Federation in 2008 though acted as a vice-president from 2003. After being elected, he managed sponsors for football which was absent. He secured a huge amount of money to develop the youngsters. He dreams us about preparing the pipeline for generating footballers from very root level but failed for many reasons. In the meantime ,he also being elected as the president of South Asian football Federation and the member of FIFA technical and Development Committee.Though he couldn’t fulfill his manifesto, there is nobody who is worthy of being go against him. There are many conspiracy theories against him, but he always demands himself free from all sorts of corruption. As far his speech, it’s the last time for his reign in BFF,again he makes us dream for better football condition looking forward to playing FIFA world Cup 2022 which is quite impossible to the standard of our present national team But we always expect a better future about our once most favorite game.
