Bhanu Bandyopadhyay: A Legendary Comedian Actor

Bhanu Bandyopadhyay, who is only known as Bhanu, is a legendary comedian actor in Bengali movie. He began his career as a stand-up comedian and soon rose to fame after the success of his first comic gramophone record, Dhakar Gadoanes. This achievement encouraged him to release a new record every year during Durga Puja.

It took him some time to gain fame and publicity in the film industry. Though he started acting in 1947, he got breakthrough in Nirmal Dey's Basu Parivar in 1952 where he played the role of a Bangal businessman. In his career, he acted in more than 300 movies. He also performed regularly on the radio.

Apart from acting and performing stand-up comedy, he was also singer which most of his fans do not know. This versatile genius died on 4 March 1983, but he is still alive among us with his work. His jokes and comedy still make us laugh and give pleasure. Another thing about Bhanu that is unknown to many people is that he was born and brought up at Bikrampur in Dhaka.
