Baul Shamrat Ostaad Shah Abdul Karim is not mere a name but a complete institution!!! He was a renowned folk musician as well as a great singer in Bangladesh. The village Ujan Dhol was blessed to have this Sufi poet on February 15, 1916, under Sunamgonj district.
Nowadays personally I'm getting the fan of folk and Baul Gharana songs. It makes me think of our traditional roots of strong Bengali history.
Ostaad Abdul Karim grew up in poverty facing hardships. Being under poverty he continued expressing his thoughts and emotions musically since a very early age. He wrote more than 1500 Baul songs which will remain ever live in the heart of the people over thousand years. In his early age, he received spiritual training on baul song from Ostaad Shah Ibrahim Mastan Baksh.
Through thousands of his songs, Abdul Karim can make you thinking of life here and hereafter. Once you keep hearing his songs with full concentration, you'll find some eternal peace in the core of your heart. It can meet up your spiritual hunger.
In the way of life, he wrote many heartful songs which you can enjoy by a little search on youtube. Among those songs few can be mentioned here :

The matter of great regret that this Nobleman was not brought into recognition in his lifetime. He was deprived of due respect and honor he deserved.
Amongst his huge number of songs only a few(10 to 15 only) are translated to the English language by Bangla academy after he passed away on September 12, 2009. Many of his scripts came on the light after his death.
Ostaad Shah Abdul Karim was a man of the soil. His lifestyle was very ordinary which he loved to live on. Still we have the opportunity to show him respect by spreading his ideas and thoughts and moreover by compiling all his scripts and spreading among our new generation. I humbly draw the kind attention of concern authority to work for his exposure over the whole world.
